DAM Vendor Leaders and Other Useless Information
Recently, I've seen some buzz over which DAM systems represent “leaders” of the industry. Note, this is mostly coming from vendors who somehow found themselves labeled “leaders."
So, it’s time for me to remind enterprise DAM buyers (and who else matters, but the buyer?) that you should not care about which supplier has gotten declared a leader -- likely by a very conflicted, and often way out-of-touch analyst firm. I'm looking at one egregiously categorized vendor in particular, but it could also be several others. Looking for the “best” or “leading” vendor is almost always the wrong way to go about technology selection.
Rather, I suggest that you look for the DAM that is the right fit for you.
Instead of looking at a single-snapshot view of the marketplace, I’ll suggest some alternative resources:
- The hardest-hitting DAM vendor evaluations in the industry
- The DAM RealQuadrant where you can generate a graphical view of the vendors that best meet YOUR needs.
- The Right Way to Select Technology: a guide to applying a design-thinking approach to the selection process
Most industry DAM inudstry quadrants I see would be more accurate if completely turned on their heads. Get the real story, then trust a test-based selection process. Let me know if RSG can help you.
